The ideal candidate has earned a STEM degree and is experienced with optics used in microscopes. Familiarity with multiphoton, light sheet, confocal, imaging analysis, advanced microscopy and/or fluorescent microscopy preferred. The salary range is $60k-$80k, depending upon education and experience.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • STEM degree, optics technology certificate or equivalent
  • Experience with optics used in microscopes or opto-electronics
  • Multiphoton, confocal, imaging analysis and/or fluorescent microscopy preferred

Responsibilities:

The Microscopist is responsible for instrument assembly, testing, installation, troubleshooting, repair and rudimentary training; works closely with the Research & Development, Sales, Manufacturing, Systems Engineering and Marketing departments.  Work may occur in either the factory, a home office or the field. This position requires up to 75% travel.

Working Environment:

The environment involves moderate physical activity and may require moving and lifting heavy equipment up to 65 pounds. Physical risks can include exposure to chemicals, bio-hazards and class 3b & 4 lasers, electrical systems and operating dangerous equipment. May experience moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors and/or loud noises. Adherence to company standard operating procedures and use of personal protective equipment are required to minimize and prevent exposure to hazards.
